A dry bag keeps your sleeping bag, clothes and electronics dry when the rain arrives or when your gear is packed in the canoe. Here you will find ultralight 3F UL Gear dry bags in 24 and 36 litres, made of 15D ripstop nylon. Choose the classic model with taped seams or a dry bag with valve that lets out the air so your gear packs down small.
The volume decides what fits. A 24-litre dry bag suits clothes, a change of clothes and food, while 36 litres holds a sleeping bag together with your sleepwear. With several bags in different colours, one for your sleep system and one for clothes, you find things straight away and balance the weight better in your backpack.
The bags are made of thin 15D ripstop nylon. The models without a valve have taped seams that stop water from getting in at the seams. The dry bag with valve holds 36 litres, weighs 76 g and comes in blue, green and orange. More ultralight gear from the same maker is available under 3F UL Gear.
On a mountain hike, a dry bag inside your backpack protects what must not get wet, above all your sleeping bag. In a kayak, canoe or packraft, or on a SUP, it keeps your gear dry from splashes and wet conditions. On a bike trip it works as a waterproof stuff sack in your bags or strapped to the bike.
They are different names for the same thing: a waterproof bag where you roll down the opening and close it with a buckle.
Press out the air, roll down the opening at least three times and clip the buckle. On the dry bag with valve you can let out the air through the valve after closing it.
The rain cover stops most of the rain, but water can still get in through the back panel and shoulder straps. A dry bag inside gives extra protection for your sleeping bag and dry clothes.
